Talky is a desktop speech-to-text app built by RYC. We take your privacy seriously and collect only what's needed to make the app work.
What We Collect
Free plan (local processing):
Audio is processed entirely on your device using Whisper. No audio data leaves your computer.
We do not collect, store, or transmit any audio or transcribed text.
Pro plan (cloud processing):
Audio is sent to Groq for transcription via our server. Audio is processed in real-time and not stored by us.
AI text transformation requests are processed through Groq. We do not store the content of your requests or results.
Account & authentication:
If you create an account, we store your email address and authentication data through Supabase.
You can sign in with Google or GitHub. We only receive your email and profile name from these providers — we do not access any other data from your accounts.
Payments:
Pro subscriptions are processed through Polar.sh. We never see or store your payment details (card number, etc.).
Usage data:
We track basic download counts to understand adoption. No personal analytics or tracking cookies are used on the website.
Third-Party Services
Talky relies on the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
Supabase — authentication and database
Groq — cloud speech-to-text and AI processing (Pro only)
Polar.sh — payment processing (Pro only)
GitHub — app distribution and OAuth sign-in
Google — OAuth sign-in
Data Storage & Security
Account data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS in the Asia-Pacific region). All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not sell, share, or rent your personal data to anyone.
Your Rights
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion, all your data is permanently removed from our systems.
